My college buddies are in agreement (for once)
$600 for a [censored] phone is way too much [censored] money, especially when, with service, that $600 will run $3000 over two years. Honestly, if I'll spend that kind of money on something, it will be something useful. You know, like a practical method of transportation to get to and from school next year...

If you have a cell phone you are already paying ~$1500 every two years. So to your college buddies, I say, pshaw. Therefore the only variable is the 600 which is buying you a device that combines several devices which utilize new technology built with and applied using Apple's simple philosophy. Don't want it? Then spend your 600 on a bike that will get to you school and back.
Love, Mac fan boi.
Jon-
As of next month, I'll be able to get a refurb Treo or Blackberry for around $50 when I upgrade my phone with AT&T. What added value am I gaining with an admittedly cute iPhone that doesn't even have 3G data transfer? I'm an Apple guy too (I love the Macbook), but the iPhone is little more than a status symbol at this point.
